Randolph-Macon Holds off ODAC Rival Lynchburg

ASHLAND, VA – Emily Kent and Erin Clare Cassidy each scored four goals as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team held off Lynchburg for a 14-10 ODAC win in Ashland on Wednesday. LC (5-5 / 0-3 ODAC) got on the board first when Lesley Buckingham scored 2:30 into the contest. Kent got the equalizer for R-MC (4-4 / 3-1 ODAC) at the 23:40 mark on an unassisted strike to make the score 1-1.

The game remained way until a goal by Hutchinson with 7:40 left in the first half sparked what proved to be a 5-0 run for the Jackets, who went up 6-1 on a Cassidy goal with 2:37 to go.

LC's Kathryn Ollice made the score 6-2 with just under two minutes left in the first stanza before R-MC scored three of the final four goals of the half, the last by Logan Pomeroy with eight seconds on the clock, sending R-MC to the intermission with a 9-3 advantage.

Back-to-back goals by Cassidy and Pomery at the start of the second half pushed the Yellow Jackets ahead 11-3.

LC rallied, outscoring R-MC, 7-3 down the stretch, pulling within four at 14-10 on an Ollice score with 1:40 to go in the contest, but that would be as close as the Hornets would get as R-MC got the draw and was able to run out the clock.

Hutchinson finished with three goals for R-MC, while Pomery had two goals and Alex Flammia made 15 saves in the cage for the Jackets.

Ollice finished with a team-high four goals for LC, while Buckingham and Lindsay Gengras each tallied a pair of strikes in a losing effort.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Guilford for a 3:00 p.m. ODAC game.
