#2 TCNJ Improves to 8-0 with Victory over Cabrini
Ewing, NJ -- The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team rolled to its eighth straight victory as the Lions defeated Cabrini College by the score of 15-2 on Thursday at Lions' Stadium.
The win puts the Lions at 8-0, while Cabrini falls to 5-3 after winning five straight games.
TCJN took control from the start as Lisa Seldeen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) opened the scoring 2:30 into the game on a feed from senior Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ/Toms River) and the team continued to roll from there. The Lions scored all nine goals in the opening half to lead 9-0 at the break.
The Lions scored four more goals before the Cavaliers broke through on a tally by Anna Scholl (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll).
Sophomore Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) boasted another big game with six goals and seven points, while Seldeen had four goals and a pair of assists. Freshman Jackie Riley (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) added to the offense with a pair of goals.
Sophomore Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) continued her steady play as she set a career high with nine saves to earn her eighth win of the season.
In goal for the Cavaliers, junior Kate Schmid (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert's) made 11 saves.
The Lions face a tough test in their next contest as they head to undefeated and fourth-ranked Gettysburg College on Sunday, April 5 in a 1:00 p.m. start, while Cabrini hosts Centenary College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

EWING, N.J. - The Cabrini women's lacrosse team suffered its first loss in the last six games Thursday, dropping a 15-2 decision at No. 2 The College of New Jersey. The Lions marked the Cavaliers' second nationally-ranked opponent of the 2009 season.
Freshman attack Jacqueline McDermott (Secane, Pa./Ridley) tallied her 10th goal of the season in the loss. Through eight games, McDermott lists fourth on Cabrini's high-powered offense in goals scored.
Senior midfielder Anna Scholl (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) deposited her fifth marker of the year versus the Lions.
Sophomore defender Courtney Davis (Madison, N.J./Madison) led the Cavaliers' in groundballs, scooping a team-best six. Junior attack Erin Nollen (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) claimed two groundballs. Senior defender Lauren Magill (Schwenksville, Pa./St. Pius) collected a club-leading two draw controls.
Junior goalkeeper Kate Schmid (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) made her ninth start of the season, playing all 60 minutes against TCNJ. Schmid posted 11 saves total, including eight stops in the first half.
The Lions sprinted to a 9-0 lead at the intermission, sparked by three first-half goals from Lisa Seldeen. TCNJ pushed its advantage to 13-0 following three early second-half scores from Alison Jaeger.
Scholl put the Blue & White on the scoreboard at the 12:49 mark of the second frame on an unassisted goal. TCNJ owned a 15-1 cushion after a score from Tara Klein with 6:36 remaining.
McDermott closed out the game's scoring with an unassisted goal at the 3:12 mark.
Jaeger led the Lions with seven points on six goals and one assist. Seldeen added six points on four scores and two helpers.
