Cabrini Routs Centenary to Stay Unbeaten in CSAC
RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team remains undefeated in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play following a 23-10 win against Centenary College Saturday at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Through five CSAC contests, the Cavaliers have out-scored their opponents 110-37.
Junior attack Erin Nollen (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) reached double figures in points for the second time in the last three games, notching 11 points on five goals and six assists. In Cabrini's 20-10 win versus Neumann College March 31, Nollen totaled 10 points on eight goals and two assists.
Sophomore attack Jaime O'Hanlon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) recorded seven points on four goals and three assists. Junior attack Amanda Alexandrowicz (Ridley, Pa./Ridley) tallied four points, pairing three goals with one helper.
Sophomore attack Kristen Vernon (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) collected three points on three goals. Freshman attack Jacqueline McDermott (Secane, Pa./Ridley) powered the Cavaliers' bench efforts, posting five points with three goals and two assists.
Cabrini seized control of the game from the draw circle, winning 23 against just 12 from the Cyclones. Vernon led the Cavaliers with nine draw controls.
Sophomore defender Courtney Davis (Madison, N.J./Madison) scooped a team-high four groundballs.
Junior goalkeeper Kate Schmid (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) earned her sixth win of the season, logging more than 55 minutes in the cage for the Blue & White. Schmid posted 11 saves before making way for sophomore Gianna Porretta (Hammonton, N.J./Saint Joseph) at the 4:41 mark of the second half.
Cabrini ripped off five straight goals after the Cyclones scored the game's first goal at the 27:10 mark of the first half. Nollen sparked the run with two scores.
The Cavaliers' lead grew to 10-3 after junior attack Kellie Levy (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) deposited her second goal of the first stanza at the 12:43 mark. The Blue & White raced to a 16-6 advantage at the intermission, scoring six unanswered goals, including two more from Nollen to close out the half.
Cabrini opened the closing 30 minutes with three straight goals. Centenary responded with three more, trimming its deficit to 10 goals, 19-9, with 16:15 remaining.
However, the Cavaliers erased any thoughts of a rally with three straight markers in less than seven minutes. The Blue & White secured a comfortable 22-9 cushion with 8:32 on the clock.
Junior midfielder Megan Mars scored three goals for the Cyclones in the loss. Midfielder Kitti Ovaskainen (2G, 1A) and attack Danielle Bay (1G, 2A) also added three points.
Cabrini (6-3, 5-0) resumes its non-conference slate Wednesday, April 8 at Centennial Conference foe Ursinus College. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

RADNOR, PA (April 4, 2009) – Senior Michelle Garone (West Hempstead, NY/West Hempstead) moved closer to becoming Centenary's all-time leading points scorer, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Cyclones (5-3, 2-3 CSAC) fell at Cabrini (6-3, 5-0 CSAC), 23-10, Saturday in Radnor, PA. Garone scored two goals to give her 141 points, three shy of Nicole Becker (144) for the top mark.
Junior Megan Mars (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) led the Lady Cyclones with three goals while fellow classmate Kiti Ovaskainen (Helsinki, Finland/Vaskivuoren Lukio) tallied two scores and one assist. Junior Kristen Wirasnik (Pittstown, NJ/North Hunterdon) (one goal), and freshmen Danielle Bay (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) (one goal, two assists) and Chloe O'Rourke (Shelton, CT/Shelton) (one goal, one assist) also contributed for Centenary.
