Washington College Falls to Ursinus in Double Overtime

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College sophomore attack Lindsay Urban (Doylestown, PA/CB East) scored a goal with 12 seconds left in the second overtime as the Bears (3-8, 2-3 Centennial) defeated Washington (5-5, 0-4 Centennial) 11-10 on Saturday afternoon in women's lacrosse play.

The Bears, who now are on a two-match winning streak, rallied from a 4-1 deficit early in the first half.

Urban and freshman midfielder Alyssa Thren (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen) each scored three goals in the win, while freshman midfielder Kim Peifer (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) scored two goals.

For Washington, Kallie Parrish and Suzie Jakub each had three goals, while Sarah Cannon added in two for the Shorewomen.

A big part of the win for Ursinus was the play of its defense, as the Bears forced 27 Washington turnovers and held the Shorewomen to just 50 percent (15-for-30) on its clears.

Senior midfielder Lisa Clark (Media, PA/Penncrest) had four caused turnovers on the afternoon with sophomore midfielder Abby Lewis (Doylestown, PA/CB East) causing three turnovers. Clark also scooped up six ground balls.

In goal, junior Alex McBride (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) made eight saves in the win.

Ursinus heads to Swarthmore on Tuesday night.

COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Lindsay Urban scored with 12 seconds left in double overtime to lift host Ursinus College past visiting Washington College, 11-10, on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action at Eleanor Frost Snell Alumnae Field. The Bears improved to 3-8 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 5-5 and 0-4 with the loss.

Urban's game-winning goal came when she drove down the right side and her shot found its way into the right side of the goal to give the Bears the victory in sudden-death.

After Ursinus scored the opening goal of the game, the Shorewomen netted four unanswered goals in a span of 8:38 to take a 4-1 lead. Sophomore attacker Sarah Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) scored on a free position shot to tie the score at 1-1 with 23:32 left in the first half.

Washington finally snapped the run on a free position tally by senior midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) with 6:07 left in the first half. Urban gave the Bears the two goal lead back, 7-5, at the 3:36 mark completing a feed from Elizabeth Cannon to close out the first half scoring.

Ursinus bumped its lead to 8-5 just 42 ticks into the second half on a Kim Peifer goal from Alyssa Thren. Washington netted the next three goals to even the tilt at 8-8. WC cut it to 8-6 on an unassisted goal by senior attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College DC) and 8-7 on an unassisted tally by Parrish. Jakub tied the game with 17:10 left with Cannon chalking up the helper.

Parrish scored her third goal of the game 61 seconds later to trim the lead to 10-9. The Shorewomen leveled the game at 10-10 with 7:24 left in the second half when Alex McBride's clearing pass was blocked by Jakub right outside of the crease and the ball crossed the goal line to tie the contest.
