Inside the Ratings & Rankings, Northeast, 3/30 to 4/03
By Jimmy Oliver
St. Joseph's Prep (PA) Last Week's Rating: 97.59, Rank: 19 This Week's Rating: 99.70, Rank: 2 Trend: Up
A big step down, from 19 to 2, for the Hawks of St. Joseph's Prep this week. The Prep knocked off city rival Penn Charter 14-2, and followed that up with a win over new Central League member Garnet Valley 11-7. Next up is the always well-coached Germantown Academy. How long will St. Joseph's stay in the top slot? Only time will tell. First-year coach Eric Gregg is off to a solid start.
Lampeter-Strasburg (PA) Last Week's Rating: 92.73, Rank: 60 This Week's Rating: 93.39, Rank 51 Trend: Up
Moving up the scale from 60 to 51 are the Pioneers. With wins over Garden Spot and Cocalico this past week, Lampeter-Strasburg have improved their record to 6-0 on the season. They are almost through the first rotation in league play and have Conestoga Valley up next. A clean run through the first part of the league will only help the ranking.
West Genesee (NY) Last Week's Rating: 95.89, Rank 45 This Week's Rating: 93.96, Rank 82 Trend Down
The match up of titans this past Saturday went to LaSalle in a 7-3 win for the Explorers. That, coupled with their early season resuls, has to do with the dramatic fall. Currently, the Wildcats are 2-1 and have Section 3 foe Fayetteville-Manlius on the 7th. Look for West Genny to come out ready to play and move back up the ladder in the rankings.
Fairport (NY) Last Week's Rating: 97.91, Rank 24 This Week's Ratiing: 98.02, Rank 25 Trend Same
3-0 is where the Raiders of Fairport stand right now. They are averaging 17 goals a game while only giving up 4 per game. Things will get a little tougher as they have Class A Section 5 games in the next week and a half. If the Raiders can come out of that stretch in good shape, they will climb.
