No. 3 Limestone Levels Lees-McRae to Go 12-1
GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Limestone College women's lacrosse team blasted past Lees-McRae, 22-4, on Tuesday afternoon at Saints Field. The Lady Saints, ranked No. 3 in today's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, improve to 12-1 overall and 10-1 in Conference Carolinas action. The Bobcats fall to 6-8 overall and 2-7 in the league.
Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) scored a game-high five goals for the Lady Saints and added one assist. Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.) scored three times and tallied two assists. Kristen DeMarzi (Huntington, N.Y.), Renee Albro (Purcellville, Va.), Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.), Katie Ilott (Whitby, Ontario, Canada), and Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.) recorded one goal apiece. Dani Tosky (Bluffton, S.C.), Raquel Prager (Seaford, N.Y.), and Lauren Smith (Greer, S.C.) also scored in the win. Casey Wilcox (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Lickert recorded four assists each. Prager dished out two assists.
Brigid Milchling (Cockeysville, Md.) made three saves for Limestone in the first half, as Michaela Reynolds (Columbia, Md.) posted nine saves in the second period. Wise had seven draw controls while Erin Growney (Rochester, N.Y.) had three. Reynolds picked up three ground balls. Prager led the Lady Saints with two caused turnovers.
Lees-McRae's Desiree Cox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) scored three of her team's four goals. Tiffany Paris (Pennsauken, N.J.) accounted for the Bobcats' other goal. Cox also had three ground balls. Lauren Martin (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Limestone outshot the visitors 36-19 and picked up 16 ground balls compared to Lees-McRae's 9. The Saints won 16 draw controls as the Bobcats recorded 11. The Lady Saints were 14-17 in clears and the Bobcats saw half of their 14 clears broken.
Limestone hosts Erskine College on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. The Bobcats host Pfeiffer University on April 10 at 1:00 p.m. in Banner Elk, N.C.
