Falcons Ground the Flying Fleet

Misenheimer, NC – The Pfeiffer University Falcons dominated the Flying Fleet of Erskine College in a 20-1 win in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon. Pfeiffer improves to 8-6 overall and 6-3 in the conference with the win, while the Fleet fall to 0-14 overall and 0-10 in the conference.

Pfeiffer outshot the Fleet 38-3 in the game and won 30 of 36 ground balls. Pfeiffer won the fight for draw controls 15-7.

Fifteen Pfeiffer players scored the team's 20 goals. Sarah Hebberd (Golden, CO), Heidi Karaszkiewicz (Glen Burnie, MD), Liz Melesh (Annapolis, MD), Tory Binder (Woodstock, MD), and Kelly McConnell (Woodbridge, VA) all tallied two goals apiece. Melesh led the Falcons by picking up five ground balls and winning two draw controls. Krissy Bentolila (Potomac, MD) grabbed four ground balls and marked two caused turnovers. Starting goalkeeper Caitlyn Ryan (Perth, Australia) made one save in 30 minutes of play.

Jessica Skinner (Woodruff, SC) tallied Erskine's lone goal. She also won three draw controls. Denisa Zani (Greenville, SC) grabbed two ground balls for the Fleet. Kaitlyn Overley (Columbia, SC) had a strong performance in goal for Erskine making 14 saves and picking up one ground ball.

Pfeiffer returns to the field on Thursday at St. Andrews Presbyterian College with a scheduled start of 4:00 PM.
