St. Mary's City, Md. – The 19th-ranked St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team rebounded from their back-to-back losses with a dominating 19-6 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Marymount (Va.) University Tuesday afternoon on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day.

St. Mary's (10-4, 5-1 CAC) started the game with five unanswered goals, including two from sophomore midfielder Aubrey Mirkin (Ashton, Md./Sherwood), before junior midfielder Maria Eiden (Easton, Md./Saints Peter & Paul) put the Saints on the scoreboard at 24:23.

The Seahawks tacked on three more before senior attacker SpringAnne Hatfield (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) cut the deficit to 8-2 at 15:34. Senior midfielder Lauren Carrier (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) sparked a 7-0 run with three consecutive goals in a 2:13-minute span. The two teams traded goals for a 16-3 SMCM halftime lead.

Hatfield scored back-to-back goals to commence the second half and cut the deficit to 16-5 at 14:52. Sophomore attacker Maggie Macleay (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) netted a natural hat trick for a 14-goal Seahawk advantage. Junior midfielder Sara Horne (Severna Park, Md./Mount de Sales) notched Marymount's (5-6, 2-4 CAC) final tally at 1:28.

Carrier extended her NCAA Division III record for consecutive games with at least one goal to 56 straight. She started the streak as a freshman on April 15, 2006 in a loss to Mary Washington.

Carrier tallied a game-high four goals, while Mirkin finished with three goals and an assist. Senior midfielder Allie Zerhusen (Cockeysville, Md./Park) and Macleay both contributed hat tricks, while junior attacker Nora Fallon-Oben (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College, DC) added two goals and two assists. In goal, freshmen Colleen Simpson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and Colleen Gradowski (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) and sophomore Jamie Roberts (Rockville, Md./Barrie) combined for 13 saves.

The Seahawks fired 38 shots to Marymount's 23, while St. Mary's edged the visitors, 18-16. The home team also claimed a 17-6 advantage in draw controls as Carrier grabbed a game-high four.

Hatfield led the Saint offense with three goals, while Horne chipped in two. Junior Ashley Dodge (Clifton Springs, N.Y./Midlakes) made 15 saves in the loss.
