No. 8 Gettysburg Rolls Past McDaniel in Centennial Play

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Gettysburg College men's lacrosse kept rolling with its sixth-straight victory on Wednesday, blowing out visiting McDaniel 14-5 at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium. Junior Josh Reichert (Englewood, Colo./Kent) and sophomore Danno Lynch (Medfield, Mass./Avon Old Farms (Conn.)) each tossed in four goals for the Bullets, who improved to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the Centennial Conference.

After Gettysburg and McDaniel (7-4, 1-3 CC) exchanged goals to start the game, the Bullets went on a 13-0 run through the end of the third period. Six different players found the back of the net with Reichert tossing in four goals before the half.

The hosts tossed in four goals in the third, including three by Lynch, to take a 14-1 lead. The Green Terror finally cracked the scoring column in the fourth once Gettysburg's starting keeper, Zach Furshman (Miamia, Fla./Kent School (Conn.)), was given a well-deserved rest. McDaniel found no give against Furshman in the 48:25 he was in goal as the senior keeper stopped six shots.

Senior Tom O'Donnell (Montgomeryville, Pa./La Salle College) tossed in a goal and dished out a game-high three assists for Gettysburg, while senior Zach Pucci (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) tallied two goals and one helper. Junior Joe Brody (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) recorded a score and two assists, and is one goal shy of 100 for his career.

Gettysburg's defensive effort stifled McDaniel, which came into the game leading the CC in scoring offense. Senior Yanni Peary (South Portland, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) keyed the effort with a standout job on the conference's leading scorer, Gibbs Preston, holding him to just one goal through three quarters. Peary finished with four caused turnovers, while senior Tommy Kehoe (Coraopolis, Pa./Sewickley Academy) posted two caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Gettysburg returns to action this Saturday, April 11, at Ursinus College. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
