Ritchie Has 10 Points as Bentley Flies by the Owls
WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Alyssa Ritchie (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) set a new career-high with 10 points on seven goals and three assists as Bentley University routed Southern Connecticut 23-2 on Thursday afternoon in Northeast-10 women's lacrosse play.
Ritchie bested her previous career-high of nine points that she established on March 24, 2007, and was just one point away from tying Lauren Ferraro's single-game school record of 11 points. Ritchie's seven goals also equaled her career-high, and she is now just 11 points away from becoming the 11th player in NCAA Division II women's lacrosse history to reach 300 points.
It's also the second game in a row Bentley has tied the program record with a 21-goal margin of victory. The Falcons have outscored their opponents 47-5 over their last two games.
Bentley scored the first eight goals of the game before the Owls put one in at the 16:27 mark. The Falcons then reeled off seven more goals in a row to lead 15-1 at halftime.
Sophomore Leigh Tedeschi (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) scored five goals, giving her nine in the last two games. Junior Erica de Silva (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) had two goals and three assists, giving her 12 points in the last two games. Freshman Lauren Canepa (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) had a hat trick.
The Falcons have now won two straight games and three of four to improve their record to 6-6 overall and 4-1 in the NE-10. They will play at Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday, April 15 at 4:00 p.m.
