Dickinson Rallies to Win High-Scoring Shootout with Ursinus

(Carlisle, Pa,) - The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team overcame a 9-4 halftime deficit to defeat Ursinus College, 19-16 on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils closed out the half with a pair of goals to answer a 5-0 run from Ursinus that had put the Bears in front 9-2 with 9:41 remaining in the half.

The Devils tallied three straight goals to start the second half to trigger an 8-1 run that put Dickinson in front 12-10 with 20:21 remaining.

The teams traded goals before the Bears took the lead with a three-goal run, putting them on top 14-13 at the 13:43 mark. The Devils struck three times in under two minutes to regain a 16-14 advantage.

Ursinus tied the game one last time, scoring back-to-back goals. The Devils closed out the game with three straight as they improve to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial Conference.

The Red Devils had some stellar individual performances on the day as Amy Jennings (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) recorded her 100th career assist, becoming the first Dickinson player to accomplish that feat. Lexie Kob (Collegeville, Pa./Springford) reached a milestone as well with her 100th career point in the contest.

Jennings tied the school record with seven assists on the day, adding goal as well. Kob netted four goals and dished out three assists. Kelsey Muir (Glen Mills, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) tallied six goals and added an assist.

Alysa Crellin (Little Compton, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey School) was dominant on the draw with a game-high 14. The Devils held an 18-5 edge in draws in the second half and finished the game with 25-11 advantage in that category. Crellin also netted four goals in the game.

Caitlin Kingsley (Katy, Texas/Ridgefield) stepped in goal for the second half and turned in an outstanding performance with five great saves.

Lindsay Urban led Ursinus (4-10, 3-4) with five goals while Kim Peifer added four goals and an assist. Alex McBride stopped 12 shots in goal.

The Red Devils travel to McDaniel on Wednesday for a 4:30 start.

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's lacrosse team, leading 9-4 at the half against Dickinson, nearly held off a furious Dickinson charge in the second half, but the Red Devils (8-6, 4-3 Centennial) scored three goals in the final 5:26 for a 19-16 win over the Bears (4-10, 3-4 Centennial) in a see-saw affair Saturday.

Ursinus trailed 16-14 with 11:13 left in the match and rallied to tie the score at 16-all with 5:49 left before the Red Devils scored three straight to win.

For the Bears, sophomore attack Lindsay Urban (Doylestown, PA/CB East) and freshman midfielder Alyssa Thren (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen) had five goals each, with freshman midfielder Kim Peifer (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) scoring four. Junior midfielder Elizabeth Cannon (Garrison, NY/James I' O'Neil) had a goal and two assists on the day. Sophomore midfielder Emily Hummel (Lumberton, NJ/Moorestown Friends) also added in a goal, while Peifer had an assist.

The Bears had a 9-2 lead with 9:41 in the first half when Thren scored her second goal of the half.

Cannon finished with four groundballs on the day, while Cannon and Thren had two caused turnovers each. In goal, junior Alex McBride (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) had 12 saves for Ursinus, who will host Muhlenberg on Wednesday in its home finale.
