Coyne Has Nine Points as Denver Rolls by Fresno State
FRESNO, Calif. – University of Denver women's lacrosse senior midfielder Karen Morton (Adelaide, Australia) scored a hat trick with two assists, helping the Pioneers roll by Fresno State 18-1 on Monday afternoon. Coyne is now tied for 10th in NCAA history with 128 career assists.
Sophomore midfielder Tulley Stapp (Denver, Colo.) added two goals and an assists against the Bulldogs, while freshman midfielder Kaiti Delaney (Denver, Colo.) had a hat trick.
Senior attacker Steph Coyne (Baltimore, Md.), junior midfielder Lexi Sanders (Greenwood Village, Colo.) and freshman midfielder Lauren Ciccomascolo (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) each had a goal and two assists.
The Pioneers (10-6, 4-2 MPSF) opened the game with five goals in the first five minutes before Fresno State (0-13, 0-6 MPSF) got on the board with 22:36 remaining in the first half.
Denver continued its offensive onslaught, closing out the half with a 13-1 lead and scoring the game's only five goals after the break.
The Pioneers enjoy a week off before heading to the MPSF Tournament in Stanford, Calif., on April 23-26. If Oregon loses its final two games, Denver would earn the No. 1 seed in the MPSF Tournament and face the No. 13 seed in the Quarterfinals. Otherwise, DU will hold the No. 3 seed and will take on the No. 12 seed.
