No. 4 Limestone Crushes Converse to Go 14-1
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The No. 4 Limestone College women's lacrosse team defeated Converse 23-2 on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Saints climb to 14-1 overall as Converse stands at 2-12.
Kelly Lalonde (Henrietta, N.Y.), Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.), Casey Wilcox (Liverpool, N.Y.), and Renee Albro (Purcellville, Va.) scored three goals apiece for the Lady Saints. Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.), Raquel Prager (Seaford, N.Y.), and Kristen DeMarzi (Huntington, N.Y.) each scored twice. Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.), Erin Growney (Rochester, N.Y.), Melissa Nakasuji (Ajax, Ontario, Canada), Lauren Smith (Greer, S.C.), and Shea Farrell (Blue Point, N.Y.) also scored.
Wise led the Lady Saints with three assists as Howard tallied two. Wise had a game-high four draw controls. Albro and Growney had three draw controls each. Both of Converse's goals were scored by Sammeria Crowder.
The Lady Saints had the edge on shots (30-2), ground balls (8-5), and draw controls (19-7). Limestone had a 16-1 advantage after the first half and went on to outscore the hosts 7-1 in the second period.
The Lady Saints lacrosse team earned the No. 1 seed in the Conference Carolinas tournament and the regular season championship title. Limestone will have home field advantage during the event as the Lady Saints host the semifinal and championship games on Saturday and Sunday in Gaffney, S.C., at Saints Field. Limestone, having earned a bye for the first round, will host the winner of the #4 St. Andrews/#5 Queens game on Saturday, April 18 at 11:30 a.m. at Saints Field.
