Medaille Swarmed by Keuka in NEAC Action

(Amherst, NY) - The battle of undefeated NEAC teams turned out to be a lopsided affair, as the visiting Keuka College Storm rolled past Medaille (21-2). The Storm scored early and often, as the Mavs could not solve their offense. That, coupled with an inability to put shots on goal, led to the loss.

The Mavs managed to put only 7 of their 21 shots on goal. Keuka scored the games first 14 goals before the Mavs found the back of the net with six seconds remaining in the opening half on a goal by senior Jeff Zacharias (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa).

The second half would be much of the same, as Keuka scored six more goals before the Mavs tallied their only other goal of the game, a marker by Matt Dunkle (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) off an assist from all time leading scorer David Bennett (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon). The Storm would close out the scoring with 1:49 to play.

The Mavs received a solid performance from freshman long stick midfielder Caleb Higgins (Clarence, NY/Clarence), who scooped up a team high five ground balls. The loss drops Medaille to (3-7) overall and (1-1) in NEAC play. The Mavs are off until Monday (4/20) when they will head to Wells College for a 4:30pm conference tilt.
