McDaniel Rallies for Overtime Win at Franklin & Marshall

LANCASTER, Pa. – Matt Daley scored his fourth goal of the night nine seconds into overtime to lead visiting McDaniel to a 10-9 victory over Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action. The Green Terror (9-4, 3-3 CC) used a two goal run in the final three minutes to send the game into extra play.

Daley's goal finished a bang-bang play that started with McDaniel's 11th faceoff win of the night. Matt Dean won the faceoff in the direction of Mike Hatton. Hatton fired a pass to D.J. Rickles streaking down the left sideline towards the Diplomats' (4-8, 1-5 CC) cage. Rickles sent a quick pass across the front of the goal mouth where Daley delivered the death blow.

The Diplomats saw two leads slip away. The latter came after they went on a four goal run to go up 9-6 with 12:24 in fourth quarter. The run was started by Sean Oliver's marker with 4:02 left in the third, tying the game at six. Noah Wilkinsky's back-to-back unassisted tallies, put F&M up 8-6. Colin McKew found Jake Gladstone for the final goal of spurt.

With F&M up 9-6 and 9:58 left in game, the Green Terror answered back scoring three unanswered goals over the final 10 minutes of regulation.

Wilkinsky matched Daley's production, scoring four goals for the Diplomats. McKew dished out two assists on the night. Jeff Ritter added two more goals for F&M. The Green Terror's Mike Hatton led all players in points, scoring three and dishing out two for fiveon the night.

Brad Motley picked up the win for the Green Terror. He assumed the net after Wilkinsky's fourth goal of the night. Motley worked the final 17:44 stopping three shots and allowing two goals to seal his crew's victory.

F&M out shot McDaniel 29 to 26 and was even in the face-off circle, each team winning 11 of 22.

McDaniel was able to score one goal out of three extra-man opportunities. The Diplomats came up short on all five their opportunities.

Franklin & Marshall returns to action Saturday, playing in the second half of a lacrosse double-header. The women's game starts at 4:00 p.m. followed by the men at 7:00 p.m.

Dupont) recorded a career-high four goals, including the game-winner just nine seconds into the first overtime to lead McDaniel to a 10-9 come-from-behind victory over Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Wednesday.

The Green Terror (9-4, 3-3 CC), who got a game-high five points from Mike Hatton (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) on three goals and two assists, overcame a 9-6 deficit early in the fourth quarter for its third one-goal win of the season. Noah Wilkinsky led the Diplomats (3-8, 1-5 CC) with four goals.

Out of a timeout, Daley completed his hat trick, finishing a Hatton helper with 9:58 to play to pull his team within 9-7. With 2:53 to play, Warner made it a one-goal game with an unassisted tally before Hatton evened the game 40 seconds later and forced the extra session before Daley won it.

Jeff Ritter staked Franklin & Marshall to a 1-0 lead just 1:24 into the game before Hatton evened the game nearly a minute later. Wilkinsky finished a Jay Ridinger feed with 2:54 to play in the first period before Ritter stretched the lead 3-1 with 33 seconds to play in the quarter.

Daley closed the deficit to 3-2 13 seconds later before Bill Warner (Yardley, Pa./LaSalle) evened the game just 10 seconds later off a Hatton feed. Daley and Hatton each finished feeds from Gibbs Preston (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) in the second quarter to take a 5-3 lead into the break.
