BURLINGTON, N.C. - No. 4 Shenandoah University ended its 2009 women's lacrosse season Friday afternoon with a 21-0 loss to top-seeded Christopher Newport University in the USA South Conference Tournament semi-finals played at Springwood Park.

CNU (10-5) advances to the tournament's championship game on Saturday against the winner of the No. 2 Greensboro vs No. 3 Methodist contest. The winner of that game will receive an automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

Shenandoah (3-12) was making its first appearance in the USA South Conference semi-finals since 2007, and the Hornets struggled against the strong CNU squad.

The Captains scored twice in the first minute and had a 10-0 lead just 15:48 into the contest. SU struggled to gain possession, as Christopher Newport won 17 of the game's 23 draws and also held the same advantage in groundballs.

The Hornets were held without a shot in the game as CNU held the ball for most of the contest. Shenandoah goalkeeper Danielle Lawson had seven saves in the losing effort.
