No. 20 Roanoke Hammers Hollins to Finish 8-0 in ODAC
SALEM, Va. -- Roanoke defeated Hollins, 25-3 in the final game of the regular season Friday afternoon. With the win the Maroons now enter the post-season with a 13-4 mark and a perfect 8-0 ODAC record. Hollins dropped to 1-9 on the season, 0-7 in the conference.
Roanoke dominated the contest, outshooting Hollins, 39-3, and holding a 30-8 advantage on groundballs and causing 22 turnovers, led by Paige Mason, Alida Haslett, and Gina Valles with three each.
Mason had a career-high eight points with three goals and five assists, another career-best in the win. She has moved up to 22nd on the career scoring list at Roanoke. In addition, Mason is ninth in career assists with 48.
Alysa Greer led Roanoke with a career-high four goals while Valles added three goals and two assists. She is now 11th on the all-time scoring list at Roanoke with 159 points. She is also ranked seventh in career goals (125), fifth in career caused turnovers (47) and fifth in single-season goals with 61.
Carolyn Miller and Meegan Rourke had three goals apiece and Maddy Gerald chipped in two goals and two assist for a career-high four points in the win.
The women will await their opponent for the ODAC Semifinals held at Kerr Stadium as the Maroons clinched a #1 seed. As the #1 seed, Roanoke will host the championship round as well. The ODAC Tournament will begin April 22 with the Maroons earning a bye. The semifinals will take place April 25.
