No. 2 Virginia Finishes Strong to Down Dartmouth
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The second-ranked Virginia Cavaliers erupted for eight goals in the fourth quarter to gain a 13-6 win Dartmouth before 4080 fans on Senior Day at Klöckner Stadium. The win is Virginia's 15th Senior Day game in a row.The Cavaliers close the regular season with a 13-1 record, while Dartmouth falls to 4-9 this season. Virginia turns its attention to next weekend's Atlantic Coast Conference Championship in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Cavaliers are the tournament's third seed and face second seed Duke in the semifinals on Friday night at approximately 7:30 p.m. Duke handed Virginia its only loss by a 15-10 count last weekend in Durham. Duke has won six consecutive games against the Cavaliers dating back to 2005.
Garrett Billings, Brian Carroll and Steve Giannone all scored three goals to lead the Virginia offense, while Danny Glading added one goal and assisted on three others.
Billings teamed with Glading to start Virginia on its 8-goal run in the fourth quarter. He tied the score at six by taking a pass from Glading and beating goalie Fergus Campbell from the right side from eight yards out at the 12:32 mark.
Billings scored the winner with just over 11 minutes remaining by taking a feed from Glading off a restart and sending a behind-the-back shot into the net to the delight of the Virginia fans in attendance.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team carried a slim 6-5 lead into the final quarter, but second-ranked Virginia netted eight unanswered goals in the final 12:32 to defeat the Big Green, 13-6, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Dartmouth (3-9) got two goals from senior captain Tim Daniels (Duxbury, Mass.), while fellow senior captain Brian Koch (Rye, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist. Senior captain Jonathan Livadas (Wilmington, Del.) added his second goal of the season and senior Phillip Killian (Washington, D.C.) posted his third of the year. Freshman goaltender Fergus Campbell (New Canaan, Conn.) made double-digit saves for the fifth time this season as he pushed aside 13 shots in the loss.
Virginia (13-1) had Brian Carroll, Garrett Billings and Steve Giannone each record three goals, while Danny Glading posted three assists to lead the Cavaliers to the win. Goaltender Adam Ghitelman registered nine saves to earn the win over the Big Green.
Virginia struck first to go up 1-0 in the first minute of play as Carroll tallied his first of the game just 59 seconds in the first quarter. Dartmouth answered with 9:07 remaining as junior Ari Sussman (New Haven, Conn.) added his 12th of the year to tie the score at 1-1. Giannone put the Cavaliers back on top at 2-1 with 4:27 left and once again the Big Green fired back to even the score as Killian tallied his lone goal with 2:51 left in the quarter.

Dartmouth got its second opportunity with the man advantage in the second frame and Livadas made Virginia pay to give the Big Green its first lead at 3-2 with the assist going to junior Josh Gillam (Peterborough, Ont.). Dartmouth was not done as it win the face-off and track down field. Koch buried his lone goal to put the Big Green on top 4-2 with 10:16 remaining in the half. The Cavaliers got one back on a goal by Billings at the 7:37 mark, but Dartmouth went back up by two goals with a score from Daniels to make it 5-3 in favor of the Big Green at the half.
