Big Second Quarter Helps No. 14 Brown Get by Providence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team (6-7, 5-1) fell to No. 14 Brown (11-2, 3-1) by the score of 10-6 on Saturday, April 18 at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Brown won the game in large part to a second quarter, in which the team outscored Providence 5-0.
Junior Colin Tigh (Garden City, N.Y.) led the Friars with three goals and a career-high nine ground balls and sophomore Mike Feldberg (Voorhees, N.J.) added three points on a goal and two assists.
Brown jumped out to an early 2-0 lead at the 10:50 mark of the first quarter on goals by Thomas Muldoon and Andrew Feinberg. The Friars responded with a 2-0 run of their own on unassisted goals by Tigh and Feldberg to tie the score at two with 4:19 to play in the opening quarter.
The second quarter belonged to Brown, as the Bears outscored the Friars 5-0 in the period. Muldoon scored two of Brown's five goals to give him a first-half hat trick. The Bears entered the half with a 7-2 lead. PC got back within four at the 10:24 mark of the third quarter, with Feldberg finding the back of the net to put the score at 7-3, Bears.
Brown answered with Muldoon's fourth goal of the day to move the Bears ahead 8-3 with 4:06 left in the third quarter. Tigh won the ensuing faceoff and raced past a number of Brown defenders to post his second goal of the day and moved the Friars within four at 8-4.
Less than a minute later, senior Bobby Labadini (Westford, Mass.) found the back of the net off a good feed from sophomore Evan Helda (Charlotte, N.C.) to make the score 8-5. The Friars completed a 3-0 run with 23 seconds left in the third as Feldberg threw a good pass to Tigh who scored to pull the Friars within two at 8-6. PC could not get any closer for the remainder of the game, and Brown scored two goals in the final quarter to secure the 10-6 win.
The Bears benefited from a 34-to-30 advantage in shots and picked up 28 ground balls to Providence's 23. The Friars won 11 of 20 face-offs and Tigh was 10 of 15 for a .667 face-off percentage.
Senior Robert Bryan (Apex, N.C.) took the loss for PC in goal, making four saves while allowing six goals in 41:15 minutes of action. Freshman Tim Finnegan (Lowell, Mass.) played 18:45 minutes in the cage, making one save and allowing three goals.
Jordan Burke played all 60:00 minutes in goal for the Bears, making nine saves and allowing six goals.

The win lifts Brown's record to 11-2 overall, reaching the 11-wins mark for the second time since 1994. Providence falls to 6-7 overall.
With the score tied 2-2 after one quarter, Brown broke the game open in the second quarter by out-scoring the Friars 5-0. Williams scored the go-ahead goal just 41 seconds into the second quarter. The scoring continued for the Bears with Muldoon netting two goals in the streak, Feinberg scoring one, and Williams his second of the game to open a 7-2 advantage at the half.

Providence got back in the game by outscoring Brown, 4-1, in the third quarter to get within two goals, 8-6. The Friars were aided by a 5-1 advantage in face-offs in the quarter. Brown's defense stiffened in the fourth quarter and Williams and Feinberg scored early goals to lift the Bears to a 10-6 advantage.
