Balanced Effort Leads No. 7 Bentley Past Assumption

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Andy Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) scored three goals and senior goalie Kris Dambach (Chester, N.J./West Morris Central) made 10 saves as seventh-ranked Bentley University defeated Assumption 10-2 on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 men's lacrosse. The Falcons have won three straight and improve to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the NE-10.

In addition to Curtis, junior Kevin Gould (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) and senior Josh Friedman (Old Bethpage, N.Y./Plainview JFK) each scored twice. Curtis and Gould each added assists for four and three point games respectively.

Assumption kept the game close heading into the fourth quarter as they only trailed 5-2, but Bentley pulled away with three goals in a span of 2:27.

Freshman Brendan Grant (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) scored at the 10:49 mark of the fourth to give the Falcons a 6-2 lead. Sophomore Steve Murray (Billerica, Mass./Billerica) scored 1:04 later, then junior Stephen Moulton (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) added a goal at the 8:22 mark to give Bentley an 8-2 cushion.

Chris Noyes gave Assumption a 1-0 lead at 5:35 of the first after nearly 10 minutes of scoreless play to open the game. Curtis then tallied his first of the game unassisted, and Friedman scored his first of the game with just 45 seconds left in the quarter to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.

Only two goals were scored in the second quarter, both going Bentley's way off the sticks of Curtis and Gould.

In the third quarter Curtis completed his hat trick and Nicholas Violandi scored for Assumption.

Bentley will next host No. 5 Merrimack on Wednesday night in a game that will likely determine which team will be the second seed in the NE-10 Tournament. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
