Keuka Overpowers Cazenovia

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. The Cazenovia College men's lacrosse team saw a 12-3 halftime deficit turn into a 16-6 defeat at the hands of the Keuka College Storm Saturday afternoon in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) matchup. The Wildcats fell to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the league, while the Storm improved to a league-leading 3-0 in conference contests and 5-6 overall.

Freshman TJ Shaw (Tully, NY) led Cazenovia offensively in the loss with three goals. Seniors Chris Lamb (Ottawa, Ont.), AJ Richards (Manlius, NY) and junior Gareth Fabian (Randolph, VT) each added one score. Keuka's Drew Kunda (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) scored a game-high seven goals to pace the Storm.

Keuka dominated the face-off category, winning 19 of 23, and held a 34-15 advantage in ground balls. The Storm also outshot the Wildcats, 38-29. An eight-goal second period broke the game wide open for Keuka and made a comeback for Cazenovia a daunting task.

Freshman Alex Iannicello (Camillus, NY) recorded six saves and allowed 12 goals in the first half in the loss for Cazenovia. Keuka's Brett Leonard (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) earned the win in net for the Storm by allowing only six goals and stopping 10 shots in 60 minutes.

Cazenovia is at Medaille College on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in another league contest.
