Tigers Cerf Past Hendrix College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The goals came in waves for Colorado College on Friday afternoon as 12 different Tigers scored at least once during a 20-1 victory over Hendrix College at Washburn Field.

Sophomore Bart Cerf found the net three times and was one of three Tigers to post career highs against the Warriors. Freshman Moses Taylor registered season highs of six assists and nine points, while classmate Carson Christman tied his season bests with four goals and five points. Hunter Sprole scored twice during the opening 2:49, including what proved to be the first game winner of his career.

CC struck for a pair of goals in less than a minute seven different times during the first half while building an 18-0 lead at the break. The Tigers outshot the Warriors 39-4 during the first half and finished with a 52-9 advantage.

John McDonnell broke up CC's bid for a second consecutive shutout against the Warriors when he fought through a check by Ian Coughlan and beat Scott MacArthur with a shot just inside the far post as he was being knocked to the ground.

Max Pluss improved to 4-1 between the pipes without having to make a save during his 20:26 in goal. Brendan Haas had a pair of saves at the end of the first half, while MacArthur stopped one of two shots during the final 30 minutes.

Keith Clemons had 10 saves on 28 shots in the first half, while Alex Melnykovych stopped three of five shots in relief. The Tigers forced 19 turnovers and won 20 of 24 faceoffs.

CC improved to 7-6 overall and 7-5 against Division III opponents. The Warriors dropped to 0-11. Colorado College plays host to Sewanee on Sunday in the last of three games against future Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents. Men's lacrosse will become an official SCAC sport in 2010. Hendrix plays Sewanee on Saturday at noon.
