#16 W&L Cruises to ODAC Semifinal Victory over RMC

SALEM, Va. -- The 16th ranked and second-seeded Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team tallied seven-straight goals in the first half and cruised to a 14-3 victory over third-seeded Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon at Kerr Stadium.

The Generals (12-4) outshot the Yellow Jackets, 39-17, and raced out to an 8-1 lead at halftime, including two goals apiece from senior midfielder Colleen Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) and sophomore midfielder Emmy Mathews (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr). W&L then pushed out to an 11-2 lead at the 21:17 mark of the second half on the strength of two goals from junior attacker Meredith Freeman (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) in securing its eighth-consecutive appearance in the ODAC finals with an 11-goal triumph.

Washington and Lee was paced by first-year attacker Maddie McKaig (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis), who notched a hat trick. Mathews, Evans, Freeman, sophomore attacker Britten Mathews (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) and sophomore attacker Kate Speare (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) all added two goals apiece.

Senior midfielder Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) tallied one goal and one assist. Senior attacker Katie Flippen (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) chipped in two assits. Sophomore Katharine Farrar (Lexington, Va./Episcopal) and first-year Jennifer Linder (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) shared minutes in goal and combined to stop nine shots.

Senior midfielder Morgan Hutchinson tallied all three Randolph-Macon goals. Sophomore netminder Alex Flammia played all 60 minutes for the Yellow Jackets (9-7) and recorded 13 saves.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday in the ODAC championship game against top-seeded Roanoke at 2:00 pm at Kerr Stadium.
