Cabrini Outguns Neumann to Reach CSAC Title Game
RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team has advanced to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game on the heels of a 25-13 win against Neumann College Wednesday in the semifinal round at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Head coach Jackie Neary, in her 13th season, has guided the Cavaliers to 13 consecutive CSAC championship games.
Sophomore attack Jaime O'Hanlon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) recorded a season-best 11 points on five goals and six assists. Junior attack Erin Nollen (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) notched seven points, pairing five scores with two helpers.
Junior attack Kellie Levy (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) deposited a season-high six goals. Junior attack Amanda Alexandrowicz (Ridley, Pa./Ridley) posted three points, scoring three goals.
Sophomore attack Kristen Vernon (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) tallied three points, burying one goal and dishing two assists. Senior midfielder Kerri Ricker (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley) and freshman attack Jackie McDermott (Secane, Pa./Ridley) each registered two points on one goal and one assist.
Cabrini owned a 33-25 advantage in groundballs. Junior midfielder Lynda Kaufmann (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) and sophomore defender Courtney Davis (Madison, N.J./Madison) collected a team-leading four.
Vernon led the Cavaliers' charge in the circle, winning eight draw controls. The Knights posted 22 draw controls versus 16 from the Blue & White.
Junior goalkeeper Kate Schmid (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) totaled 10 saves en route to her 11th win of the season. Schmid tallied eight stops in the second half.
Senior midfielder Gabby D'Ambrosio, senior midfielder Rachael DiCicco and junior attack Colleen Finnegan each recorded four points for Neumann in the loss. Finnegan tallied four goals, whiel D'Ambrosio and DiCicco paired two scores with two assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kathleen Sinclair notched 15 saves, including nine in the second half.
The Cavaliers are in pursuit of their first CSAC title since the 2005 season. The Blue & White captured eight consecutive CSAC crowns from 1998-2005.
No. 2 seed Cabrini (11-4) will play for a shot at the NCAA Tournament on the road at Gwynedd-Mercy College Saturday, May 2. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
