Cazenovia Dominates Wells in Season Finale

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. The Cazenovia College men's lacrosse team ended the 2009 season on a high note Thursday afternoon, defeating the visiting Wells College Express 21-5 on senior day in the Wildcats regular season finale. The win put Cazenovia at 6-8 overall, giving them the highest win total for a single season in program history. Wells dropped to 0-12 overall.

After the Express took a shocking 3-1 lead through the game's first 14 minutes, the Wildcats ripped off 10 unanswered goals for an 11-3 advantage with just under four minutes remaining in the half. Cazenovia was relentless in the second half as they outscored the Express 9-1 over the last two quarters to cruise to victory.

Sophomore Kyle Boland (Clifton Park, NY) scored a game-high six goals to lead the Cazenovia offense and also assisted on three other goals. Junior Gareth Fabian (Randolph, VT) kept pace by adding five goals to his team-leading season total, while freshmen Dylan West (Smithtown, NY), Jevon Pakkala (Newfield, NY) and TJ Shaw (Tully, NY) added four, four and two, respectively. Shaw also had four assists and junior Pat Sauers (Saranac Lake, NY) led the team with five.

The Wildcats outshot the Express 59-18 in the contest and held a 63-23 advantage in ground balls, including 18 by senior Chris Lamb (Ottawa, Ont.). Lamb was also 20 of 23 on the face-off, helping the Wildcats win 26 of 30 for the game.

Kylan Hallett (Basom, NY) had two goals and one assist to lead the Express in both categories.
