#1 Seed Wolverines Top Sonoma to Advance to Semifinals

The fourth quarter saw the Wolverines continue to work in the reserves, with McGowan notching his second of the game to open the fourth quarter scoring at the 10:34 mark. Following a Sea Wolves goal almost six minutes later, Bartomioli notched his second of the contest, scooping up a loose ball near midfield and racing in for the tally. McGowan closed out the scoring with his third of the game with 3:53 left in the contest on the man-up as Michigan walked away with the impressive 22-6 win.

Statistically, Michigan won every major category. U-M doubled up Sonoma State in shots 50 to 25, and won the groundball battle, 72 to 30. The Wolverines were an impressive 23-28 on faceoffs, and were 25-33 on clears while riding SSU to 15-34 totals. The Maize and Blue scored twice on four man-up opportunities, and held the Sea Wolvers scoreless on their lone attempt.

The Wolverines will be back in action Friday evening (May 15) at 8:00pm MST when they take on #5 Colorado in semi-final action in the MCLA National Championship tournament at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
