Tar Heel Men's Lacrosse Concludes 2009 Recruiting Class

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse program completed its 2008-2009 recruiting efforts Wednesday by adding midfielder William Scroggs to the Class of 2013, giving UNC head coach Joe Breschi a total of 13 individuals in the class that will enroll in August of 2009.

"We are thrilled to add William Scroggs to an already tremendous class of prospective student-athletes. He will add terrific depth to our midfield unit and is also talented at the face-off X.," said Breschi. "To our fans, William is no stranger. His parents, Willie Scroggs and Karen Shelton, are both legendary coaches at the University and speaking on behalf of the entire Tar Heel lacrosse family I'm thrilled to welcome William to our program."

William Scroggs is a 2008 alumnus of the Chapel Hill, N.C. and has been a Chapel Hill native his entire life. He is one of the standout players to ever come out of the Chapel Hill High program and will be reunited with former CHHS teammates Stephen Burns, an incoming freshman attackman, and Logan Corey, a rising sophomore midfielder, on the Carolina roster in 2010.

In high school, William lettered in both football and lacrosse while maintaining a 3.5 grade point average. In both his junior and senior years he was named a high school All-America and was also a first-team All-State selection. Scroggs was named to the National Senior Showcase South Team following his senior year of high school.

Scroggs becomes the 13th member of the Class of 2009, joining the previously announced recruits.
