William & Mary Announces Seven Player Recruiting Class
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (June 18, 2009) – William and Mary women's lacrosse head coach Christine Halfpenny has announced that seven student-athletes will join the program for the 2009-2010 academic year. The incoming class includes three in-state student-athletes, as well as two from Pennsylvania and one from Massachusetts and Texas.
"I am thrilled with the addition of my third recruiting class at the College of William and Mary," Halfpenny said. "This class will bring a wealth of experience all over the field from goal to low attack. There are many qualities that we were looking for in the 2009 recruiting class: speed, strength, competitiveness, excellent stick fundamentals and leadership. We believe these student-athletes bring a great mix of all the above attributes. I am looking forward to seeing how each of these individuals adapt to the college game, and I feel that they all have the ability to make an immediate impact on our program."
In addition to leading the Tribe to its second consecutive regular season conference title in '09, Halfpenny guided the team to a program-record six league wins and a national ranking of 20th in the final IWLCA regular season poll.
