North Florida Announces Dan Cocchi as New Head Coach

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The University of North Florida has announced its new addition to the 2009-2010 men's lacrosse program. The second-year SELC Division II team has hired Dan Cocchi of Palm Coast, Florida to be the head coach of the Ospreys.

Cocchi has an extensive lacrosse background and is arguably one of the most qualified head coaches in the Southeast. A graduate of Towson University, Cocchi was a two-time All–American and a three time All–Conference player. He has held prominent coaching positions at both the high school and college levels.

Cocchi has coached at the NCAA Division I level in addition to spending time working at the varsity high school level with Nease and Matanzas High School. He is also currently playing for the Long Island Lizards of the MLL and was invited to try out for the 2010 USA team.

With the addition of Cocchi, UNF is expected to compete for an SELC Division II championship in the spring of 2010.
