Mount St. Mary's Announces 2010 Recruiting Class
EMMITSBURG, Md. – Mount St. Mary's University women's lacrosse head coach Denise Wescott has announced the signings of Jordan Certeza (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Lutheran), Allie Fife (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton), Kaitlyn Larrimore (Pylesville, Md./North Harford), and Natalie Loutchaninoff (Kingwood, Texas/Northeast Christian Academy) to National Letters of Intent. The quartet will enroll at the Mount in the fall.
"I am excited about these recruits joining our Mount lacrosse family because they are passionate about lacrosse, wonderful students, and really fit in with the team chemistry and so do their families," said Wescott, who begins her fifth season with the Mountaineers in 2010.
Certeza, a 5-7 attacker, was a four-year letterwinner on the Baltimore Lutheran girl's lacrosse team. Certeza posted 162 goals and 65 assists for 217 points in her first three years of high school. She helped her team to two titles and a 41-11 record in three years and scored a career-high nine goals on Apr. 18, 2008.
Fife, a 5-3 midfielder, was a three-year letterwinner on the Bishop Ireton girl's lacrosse team and one of seven players from the high school to commit to play at a Division I program this year. Fife helped her team to the state semifinals in 2007 and 2008 while earning a spot on the All-WCAC honorable mention as a junior.
"Jordan not only can score goals and feed but has presence in the midfield on the draw and connecting in transition. She was a dominate force on her high school team, and can play very physical defense with wonderful foot skills," said Wescott. "Allie has great speed and will help us drive to the cage well and start the fastbreak. She has great dodging skills and feels the space to beat her defender and find the opening to go to goal. She also has many assists and is tough tackling back in the midfield."
Larrimore, a 5-8 midfielder, was a two-year letterwinner on the North Harford girl's lacrosse team, but missed her senior campaign due to an injury.
Loutchaninoff, a 5-4 attacker, was a four-year letterwinner on the Northeast Christian Academy girl's lacrosse team in Texas. Loutchaninoff posted 232 goals and 115 assists for 347 points in her first three seasons. She registered 91 goals and 43 assists in her freshman year, 54 tallies and 37 helpers as a sophomore and 87 goals and 35 assists in her junior campaign. Loutchaninoff registered six goals and eight assists in a game against Clearlake in 2006 and four goals and 10 assists in a match against Austin Westlake in 2008. She helped her squad to the DII State title in 2006, advanced to the championship game in 2007 and participated in the city finals in 2008.
"Caitlin is recovering from ACL surgery she had in December making her miss her senior season. She is already back to playing lacrosse in summer league and we hope to use her speed, skills, and height in our midfield," said Wescott. "Natalie has been to many of our clinics and summer camps and became part of our "team" very early on. She is a lefty attacker that specializes around the cage feeding and scoring. She has grown so much as a player over the last couple of years and has worked very hard to improve her game and I know we will use her skills and game sense to help quarterback the offense."
Mount St. Mary's finished 2009 with a 6-11 overall record and 6-2 in Northeast Conference play. The Mount advanced to its seventh-straight NEC Tournament and 11 of the last 12 league postseasons.
