Gandolfi Named to 2009-2010 U.S. Developmental Team

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University rising senior Corrine Gandolfi picked up one of the highest honors in her sport on Sunday as the Pride's star midfielder was named to the 2009-10 US Lacrosse Developmental Team.

Gandolfi, along with 23 other players, became members of the US National Team program after two days of tryouts at the University of Maryland * Baltimore County. The squad of 24 was whittled down from a list of 64 players that came to the second round of tryouts. Two other members of the Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team had advanced to the second round of tryouts as rising seniors Bryana Borrelli and Liz Falco joined Gandolfi at UMBC for the tryouts.

Gandolfi becomes the fourth member of the Hofstra Women's Lacrosse program to earn National Team honors as Stephanie Clarke (1996-97) and Kim Hillier (2007-08) previously were members of the United States National Team, while Maisie Osteen currently competes with the Wales National Team.

A third team All-American this past season, Gandolfi led Hofstra in goals (45), assists (25), points (70) and draw controls (32), while ranking fourth on the squad in ground balls (23) and third in caused turnovers (13). Twice an All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) first team selection, Gandolfi's 99 career goals ranks 10th all-time in program history, while her 138 points ranks 11th.

Team USA debuts Oct. 11 at the fourth-annual US Lacrosse Stars and Stripes event. The newly-named Developmental team and gold medal-winning U.S. World Cup team will play North Carolina and James Madison at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Va.
