Capistrano Valley (CA) Hires Russ Wilhelm as Head Coach

Russ Wilhelm comes to the Capistrano Valley High School (CA) boys' lacrosse program for the 2009-2010 season fresh off an incredible collegiate season coaching Cal State Fullerton in their first visit to the MCLA national championships. The Titans, in their third year, won the SLC Division II Championship and finished the year with a 13-4 record and ranked 11th out of 134 teams nationally. Wilhelm has also coached two youth teams to the coveted "STARZ" Cup Championship in 2008 and 2009.

Wilhelm is involved with lacrosse year round at the youth through adult levels and is a positive influence in the lacrosse community. He is the director of the Saddleback Scorpions lacrosse program, which is made up of boys from grades 2nd through 8th and serves all of South Orange County.

"I am extremely excited about the CVHS Cougar Lacrosse Program and can't wait to help build this program into a successful and fulfilling experience for all the players and their families. The road ahead is a long one, but with hard work and dedication great things can be achieved. I pride myself on my dedication and professionalism on and off the lacrosse field. Not only will these young men become great players and leaders on the field, they will become great leaders and role models off the field", said Wilhelm.
