Three Patriots Named to the VaSID All-State Lacrosse Team

FERRUM, Va. – VaSID announced today its annual list of the top collegiate women's lacrosse players in Virginia. Three Patriots were named to the team, with Maggie Bridges, Madalyn Jamison and Sara Longobucco all earning Second Team honors. It is Bridges third consecutive selection to the team, while Jamison and Longobucco both made the team for the first time.

A local product from Paul VI High School in Fairfax, Va., Bridges earned her third consecutive First-Team All-CAA selection following the 2009 season. Bridges, the CAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2008, wrapped up her senior season third in the nation and first in the CAA in ground balls per game with an average of 3.81 per contest. Bridges led the Patriots in caused turnovers with a total of 24. A standout in the classroom as well, Bridges was recently named the CAA Scholar-Athlete Award recipient for women's lacrosse for the second consecutive season.

Jamison, a Second-Team All-CAA selection, led Mason in points (59), goals (29) and assists (30) during the 2009 season. The Finksburg, Md. native came close to tying George Mason's single-season record for assists. Jamison ended her season with 30, one shy of the school record of 31 set in 2003 by Kristy Manas.

Longobucco has started every game in goal for the Patriots for the past three seasons. In 2009, she ranked 14th in the nation and first in the CAA in saves per game. The Sea Cliff, N.Y. native wrapped up the year with 161 saves and 31 ground balls.

Old Dominion snared two of the top awards with Sue Stahl's selection as the VaSID Coach of the Year and Emily Geary's honor as the Rookie of the Year. Virginia's Blair Weymouth was named the VaSID Player of the Year.
