Knighthawks Re-Sign Three; Bandits Acquire Pick
(Rochester, NY) ... Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Regy Thorpe announced today that the team has re-signed three players for the 2010 National Lacrosse league season, including Rochester native Joe Walters. The K-Hawks also agreed to one-year deals with forward Jamie Rooney and transition man Bobby McBride.
This past season, Walters made his National Lacrosse League debut with his hometown Knighthawks. The Irondequoit High School product played in 15 games and collected eight goals, 12 assists and 50 loose balls. This summer, Walters finished tied for sixth in points (42) in 12 games with the Toronto Nationals of Major League Lacrosse.
Rooney completed his second season in the NLL in 2009. He collected five goals and three assists in seven games after arriving in Rochester following a trade with the New York Titans. Before the trade, he registered seven goals, seven assists and 30 loose balls in 10 games with the Titans. In his career, he has 32 goals, 33 assists and 105 loose balls in 32 games. The Arthur, Ontario, native played for the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks (Major Series) this summer. He finished tied for 12th in the league in points with 55 (20+35) in 18 games.
McBride enters his third season in the NLL in 2010. The Newmarket, Ontario, native played in 10 games and recorded six goals, nine assists and 63 loose balls with the Knighthawks. He was acquired by Rochester in the 2008 Dispersal Draft with the 16th overall pick. Before arriving in Rochester, he spent his rookie season with Chicago where he collected eight goals, 13 assists and 73 loose balls in 13 games with the Shamrox. This summer, he played for the Brooklin Redmen of Major Series Lacrosse and recorded three goals and three assists in three games.

BUFFALO, NY (August 11, 2009) – Buffalo Bandits Director of Lacrosse Operations Scott Loffler announced today the team has acquired a second-round selection in the 2009 Entry Draft from the Washington Stealth, in exchange for transition player Jamieson Koesterer and Buffalo's fifth-round selection in the 2009 Entry Draft.
The Bandits currently hold seven selections in the 2009 Draft: three in the 2nd round; one in the 3rd; two in the 4th, and one in the 6th.
The Bandits had previously selected Koesterer with the ninth selection in a dispersal draft held by the National Lacrosse League on July 7. A 24-year-old native of Cazenovia, NY (but now lives in Seattle), Koesterer picked up 39 loose balls and two points (0+2) in eight games with Portland last season.
