John Drehoff Named Head Coach at Central Florida

Orlando, Fl, August 10, 2009 -- After interviewing a number of great candidates for the position, the men's lacrosse team at the University of Central Florida is excited to announce that John Drehoff, a seasoned veteran of Central Florida lacrosse, has been selected to lead the Knights program.

"Coach Drehoff brings an impressive resume to what has become a very high-profile sport at the University," says Bryden Feighery, team President. "Over the past decade, as Head Coach of the Winter Springs High School Varsity Boys Lacrosse team, Coach Drehoff accomplished 109 wins - 27 loses, 10 district championships, five conference championships, four regional championships, four High School All-Americans, and a USLO Coach of the Year. While his record speaks for itself, it is his passion and dedication to developing Central Florida athletes, on and off the field."

In addition to his varsity coaching experience, Drehoff has for five years guided the Orlando Possums U19 Elite Lacrosse Club to numerous tournament championships across the country and was chosen to coach the Northern Florida Boys' High School All-Star Teams from 2000-2003.

"We think Coach Drehoff's commitment and background is a perfect fit for our team," Feighery continues. "Lacrosse popularity is exploding in Florida and the Knights recruitment efforts have provided the team with a deep field of talent from in and out of state. We expect this season to post a new benchmark for our University."
