Auburn's Pacelli Tabbed to Lead Cazenovia Lacrosse

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. Auburn, NY native and former Cayuga Community College women's soccer standout Lauren Pacelli has been named head coach for both the women's lacrosse and soccer programs at Cazenovia College.

Pacelli served as an assistant coach from 2008-2009 for the women's lacrosse and soccer programs at Norwich University in Northfield, VT, where she attended college after graduating from Cayuga in 2005 as the women's soccer all-time leading scorer.

"I'm very excited to be a part of Cazenovia College Athletics and look forward to working with the student-athletes and members of the College community," said Pacelli. "It is my hope that I can encourage success within my teams, as well as instill a strong concept of respect, hard work and determination."

She takes over a Cazenovia lacrosse program that won the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season title in 2009 and participated in the ECAC Upstate Championships, finishing 11-4 overall. The women's soccer team is coming off of a 6-9-2 season in which the Wildcats advanced to the second round of the NEAC tournament.

"Director of Athletics Rob Kenna and the Cazenovia Athletics Department are pleased to welcome Lauren as a part of our team," said Director of Sports Information, Brandon Holt. "We believe that Lauren possesses the skills and background necessary to give our student-athletes the best chance to compete at a high level."

As an assistant coach, she helped guide the 2008 Cadets soccer team to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season and tournament championships, as well as the NCAA National Tournament. Pacelli was on the Norwich lacrosse staff for two seasons after graduating in December of 2008 with a bachelor's in Biology. The 2008 squad won the GNAC championship and earned a bid to the ECAC New England Region Tournament, while the 2009 team were GNAC finalists.

During her playing days at Cayuga, Pacelli captained the 2004 team and was a two-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Northeast Regional All-American. She was voted first team all-conference by the Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) in 2003 and 2004 and was the 2004 MSAC Player of the Year. Pacelli was also a Region III second team selection in 2004 and honorable mention in 2003. She played soccer at Norwich for two seasons and was the team captain in 2007.
