Kelly Munroe Named Assistant Lacrosse Coach at American

WASHINGTON - Head Lacrosse Coach Katie Woods has announced the hiring of Kelly Munroe as the program's new assistant coach. Munroe, a former All-American lacrosse student-athlete at Boston University and member of the U.S. Developmental National Team, will work primarily with American's defensive unit.

Munroe is a 2009 graduate of BU, where she helped lead the Terriers lacrosse program to four straight America East conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2008, her junior season, Munroe played a key role in leading BU to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Individually, Munroe earned All-American honors in her senior season, and was a Regional All-American in both 2008 and 2009. Munroe was a three-time All-America East selection, and was named the America East Championship Most Outstanding Player in 2008. She completed her career with 61 caused turnovers, 12th in school history.

Additionally, in each of the last two years, Munroe has been selected to compete for the prestigious United States Lacrosse Developmental National Team.

"I am very excited to have Kelly as a part of our lacrosse program," commented Woods. "I think she's going to be a great coach and teacher. She has tremendous energy on the field and will help take our defense to a new level."

Munroe graduated from BU with a Bachelor's degree in communications, and a concentration in public relations. She takes over for Courtney Farrell, who accepted a coaching position at Dartmouth.
