Providence Lacrosse Signs 16 Student-Athletes for 2010
Providence, R.I. – The Providence College men's lacrosse team announced the signing of 16 student-athletes for the 2010 season on Thursday, September 3. Each of the signees will enroll at PC in the fall of 2009 and compete for the Friars during the team's inaugural BIG EAST season in the spring of 2010. The student-athletes are Paul Carafello, Jacob Dauz, Kyle Dexter, Billy Falatko, Alex Forman, James Fuller, Joe Habib, Anthony McGuinness, Chris Pellichero, Tyler Pratte, Zack Sharman, Ernestas Steponas, Daniel Textor, Josh Torres, Ryan Walters and JT Weber.
"We are excited to welcome the latest group of recruits that will help our growing commitment to lacrosse at Providence College," Head Coach Chris Burdick said. "The young men in this class are as talented in the classroom as they are on the lacrosse field and they will bring a wealth of personality and character to the Providence College community. With the move into the BIG EAST, it remains important that we target young men who are committed to being the best people, students and athletes they can be and we are confident we have accomplished that with the class of 2013."
Paul Carafello - Midfield - Kinnelon, N.J./Don Bosco Prep
Paul Carafello is a 6-foot, 190 pound, midfielder from Don Bosco Prep School in Ramsey, N.J. He played under Head Coach Mike Springer at Don Bosco Prep and posted totals of 32 points on 24 goals and eight assists as a senior. He has attended the Top 205, Camp 205 and Nike Elite lacrosse camps. Carafello intends to major in either engineering or business at Providence.
Jacob Dauz – Midfield - Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown
Jacob Dauz is a 5-foot-7-inch, 175 pound, midfielder from Newtown High School in Sandy Hook, Conn. Dauz was a three-year starter on the lacrosse team under Head Coach Brian Micena. As a senior, he posted totals of 20 goals, 22 assists and 186 ground balls. For his efforts, Dauz earned First Team All-State and SWC All-Conference honors while helping Newtown win the SWC Conference Championship. He also garnered All-Conference accolades as a junior and made the Connecticut Super Juniors team. Dauz has attended the Top 205, Tri-Lax and King of the Hill lacrosse camps. He is undecided about his major at PC.
Kyle Dexter – Midfield – Victoria, British Columbia/Claremont Secondary
Kyle Dexter is a 6-foot-5-inch, 205 pound, midfielder from Claremont Secondary School in Victoria, British Columbia. Dexter played for Head Coach Darren Reiseg at Claremont and won the team's MVP award as a junior. He attended the 2008 Fall Baltimore Ultimate Shootout and the 2009 Denver Team Camp, where he was an all-star selection. His intended major at Providence is business.
Billy Falatko – Defense - Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep
Billy Falatko is a 6-foot-3-inch, 185 pound, defenseman from Georgetown Prep School in North Bethesda, Md. Under Head Coach Kevin Giblin, Falatko helped lead Georgetown to an IAC Tournament Championship, a 20-3 record and a No. 8 national ranking by Laxpower.com in 2009. He earned All-County Honorable Mention accolades as a senior and was named the team's most improved player. Falatko has attended the Top 205 and Blue Chip 225 lacrosse camps and was an all-star selection at Blue Chip 225. Falatko is undecided about his major at PC.
Alex Forman – Midfield – Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy
Alex Forman is a 6-foot-2-inch, 190 pound, midfielder from Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, Pa. Under Head Coach Josh Hanlon, Forman earned four varsity letters in lacrosse at Neshaminy. He is a three-time Suburban One All-League selection and was named to the Bucks Country Courier Times Golden Team as a senior. Forman has attended the US Naval Academy and Elite Lacrosse camps and was named a U.S. Naval Academy Camp All-Star. He is undecided about his major at Providence at this time.
