Anthony Kelly Joins Ohio State Staff as Volunteer Coach
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Former Buckeye captain Anthony Kelly has been named the team's volunteer coach, head coach Nick Myers announced Wednesday. A Cleveland native, Kelly was a four-year letterwinner for the Buckeyes from 2000-2003 and a captain as a senior. He remains one of the top faceoff players in the nation.
A Major League Lacrosse all-star, Kelly has played in the MLL since 2006, spending three years with Los Angeles before moving to Chicago this past year, and has spent time in the National Lacrosse League and with U.S. Lacrosse. He currently works for STX, the equipment sponsor for the Buckeyes, and has spent time as an assistant coach at Harvard and as a coach at Hilliard Davidson High School.
"We are thrilled to welcome Anthony Kelly back to the family and expect he will make an immediate impact for us," Myers said. "Our face-off and wing play will be a real point of emphasis this fall and spring. Anthony is a great fit because not only is he currently one the very best face-off men in the country, but you will not find anyone more passionate about being a Buckeye."
Kelly is looking forward to joining the team on the sidelines wearing the Scarlet and Gray once again.
"It's an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to come back to my alma mater and coach at The Ohio State University," he said. "Coach Myers is an unbelievable coach and he has done an amazing job compiling a talented hard-working staff over the past two years. It is exciting to be welcomed into that family of coaches who I respect so much and to once again be a part of the Buckeye lacrosse family and the Ohio State tradition that goes with that."
