American University Lacrosse Releases 2009-2010 Schedule

The American University women's lacrosse team has released its 2010 schedule, which features eight home dates. After a February 13th scrimmage against Johns Hopkins, the Eagles will open their regular season with a home game against Drexel on Wednesday, February 17th at 3:00 p.m. American then hits the road for three games, including one against Big Ten team Ohio State.

The Eagles will be home for three straight games on March 3rd, 6th and 13th against Richmond, Old Dominion and Colgate, respectively. The game against Colgate, Patriot League Tournament Champion and NCAA Tournament team, will be the Eagles first conference matchup of the campaign.

Patriot League play will continue through the rest of March and into April as American will host Lehigh and Lafayette on March 27th and April 3rd. The Eagles will face George Mason on March 24th at Jacobs Field in their final non-conference matchup. The Saturday, March 27th game against Lehigh will serve as the annual LAX Blowout and the last stop on the 2009-2010 Phil Bender World Tour.

The Eagles return two All-Patriot League selections from last season, seniors Amanda Makoid and Alyssa Romano. American graduated six student-athletes in May, including Leslie Fischer, who was also named to the All-Patriot League Second Team.

This year, the Eagles welcome nine freshmen and a new assistant coach, Kelly Munroe. Munroe was an All-American lacrosse student-athlete at Boston University and member of the U.S. Developmental National Team.
