BYU Cougars Announce 2009 Fall Ball Schedule
The Brigham Young University Men's Lacrosse Team has announced an 8-game Fall Ball schedule for the Fall of 2009. The schedule features scrimmages against seven teams ranked in the final LaxPower.com MCLA Division 1 and 2 Top 30.
The Cougars will begin their 2009 fall ball season on October 10th with an exhibition game against the University of Utah at the conclusion of the Golden Spike High School Tournament in Provo, Utah. The game will be begin at 4:00pm and will be the premier event concluding 2 days of high school lacrosse.
The Cougars will be facing perennial powerhouse Simon Frasier University October 17th on the North University Fields at BYU. The scrimmage will be the first time that Simon Frasier and BYU have met for a Fall Ball Scrimmage. This will be a regulation length scrimmage beginning at 3:00pm.
The next two weeks will take the Cougars across town to Utah Valley University on the 23rd of October for a 4:00pm start and then North to Westminster University for a Halloween Tournament in Sandy on October 31st starting at 9:00am.
The Cougars will conclude their fall ball schedule November 6th and 7th in Las Vegas at the Best of the West Tournament. Games will include Arizona State University, University of Arizona, University of California – Berkley and Cal Poly.
"We have put together a great fall ball schedule," said BYU Head Coach Matt Schneck, "We will be playing quality competition and giving every player on the team an opportunity for some valuable playing time. Fall Ball is about learning our system and getting on field experience. As a coaching staff we are evaluating and giving players the opportunity to solidify their spot on team while seeing what we need to work on. With the implementation of new traditions both on and off the field, we are excited about the next 6 weeks."
