La Salle Signs Six to Letters of Intent for 2010-2011
Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle eomen's lacrosse program recently announced six student-athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent for the early signing period. The class of 2014 is comprised of four local products as well as one each from New York and Maryland. The coaching staff is extremely excited about the group of young women who have made a commitment to La Salle University, and they feel there impact will be seen on and off the field as student-athletes.
Kaitlin Colbridge, a Lansdale, Pa native, will be reuniting with three former teammates; North Penn alums and sophomore team members Sara Ciaverelli, Allie Herman and freshman, Lauren McDermott. Colbridge will also be one of two players from North Penn High School in this class of 2014. A speedy defender and force in the defensive transition, Colbridge will be looked upon to do the same for La Salle. A two sport athlete who also excelled as a starter for the Maidens field hockey team achieved honor roll while doing so. The explorer coaching staff believes Colbridge has only scratched the surface of her potential and they are confident her athleticism will enable her to make an easy transition to the college level.
Kelly Collins, a Broomall, Pa resident, will be joining forces with her former Marple Newtown Teammates; freshmen Jackie Roebuck and Melanie Sarcinello. An athlete with a presence in the midfield, she has a knack for getting the groundballs. Collins has three key components: size, speed and brains. Under long time coach Cheri McMonagle, Collins has earned her fair share of honors while excelling on and off the field. Collins earned Academic All American honors, All Delaware County (honorable mention, All Central league, and women's soccer Most Valuable Player. Collins activities did not end there, as she was a key member of the Philadelphia area club lacrosse team, Lenape Premier. Collins has the drive, determination and natural talent to become an integral part of the explorer midfield.
Allie Henry, a Garnet Valley, Pa resident, will be following in the footsteps of newly named Garnet Valley coach and Explorer alum, Kate Henwood. Allie is a proficient attacker that has the innate ability to see the play as it develops while also being a good finisher. A club teammate of Collins, Henry was busy doing the damage on the attacking end. For Lenape alone, Henry amassed 72 goals and 22 assists in the short summer tournament schedule. Her Garnet Valley statistics were even more outstanding totaling 95 goals and 18 assists. It would be easy to see why Henry was named Offensive MVP, All Central League her sophomore and junior seasons, and All Delaware County honorable mention as a junior. Allie has great game sense, while being an excellent shooter. With these two skills combined, we are looking for Allie to be a contributor early in her career.
Dani Horn, a Colmar, Pa native, will be the second North Penn player for the class of 2014, and fifth on the Explorer roster. Horn is strong, athletic, and a huge threat on the draw circle. As a player for the elite club Ultimate Goal Lacrosse, Horn has excelled in every aspect of the game. A well rounded midfielder, Horn has totaled 28 goals, 14 assists, 35 draw controls, and 40 groundballs. An all Suburban one Conference Selection, Horn, will be looking to rekindle her chemistry with North Penn alum, and La Salle freshman attacker Lauren McDermott. Horn has the physical tools to become an excellent college midfielder and the coaches are anxious to help her get there.
