1960s Manhasset Laxers Reunite with Richie Moran
Legendary Cornell head coach Richie Moran got his start coaching the Manhasset High School Indians in 1963 at age 24. In his first three years, his teams won three Nassau County titles. They also won the Long Island title, including the first one in 1963 and again in 1964.
The piece at the Manhasset Press web site is a recap of those years and of the reunion of players from those first three Manhasset championship teams and their Hall of Fame coach.
The article also features much detail on 1960s high school playoff lacrosse on Long Island and a detailed look back at Manhasset High School athletics during a time when Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown played both football and lacrosse for the small school on Long Island's North Shore near the New York City line.
