Siena Men's Lacrosse Releases Schedule for 2010

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena men's lacrosse released its 2010 schedule Tuesday afternoon. The Saints will play a 15-game regular-season schedule starting February 20 when they open at Stony Brook. Siena will play six home games, eight road games and one neutral site game.

"Our non-league schedule will once again give our players some great experience and the competition necessary to prepare for league play," Head Coach Brian Brecht said. "To open up on the road with very strong programs will certainly make us battle tested for our MAAC games."

Siena will play an exhibition game at Harvard on February 13 and then open the season with five straight games on the road: Stony Brook (February 20), Johns Hopkins in a nationally televised game on ESPNU (February 28), UAlbany (March 2), a neutral site game against Hartford (March 6) in Hempstead, New York and begins its MAAC Championship defense in its league opener at St. Joseph's (March 20).

"We are excited once again to play Johns Hopkins on ESPNU early in the season," Brecht said. "We are also thankful to Seth Tierney and Hofstra University for the opportunity to play the second game of a doubleheader on March 6 after Hofstra and Brown play."

Siena will play its home opener against Air Force on March 23. Later that week, the Saints host Providence on March 27. Siena defeated Providence twice last year (8-5 in the regular season and 7-1 in the MAAC Tournament semifinals). The Friars left the MAAC Lacrosse League for the newly formed Big East following last season.

On April 3, the Saints host Detroit Mercy, who replaced Providence in the league this past summer.

Siena goes on the road to face Binghamton (April 7) and Wagner (April 10) before playing Virginia Military Institute (April 17) and Marist (April 21) at Siena Turf Field.

Siena travels to Mount St. Mary's (April 24) and to Canisius (April 28), the site of its MAAC championship win last season. The regular-season concludes with a rematch of the MAAC Finals as Siena hosts Manhattan (May 1).

The MAAC Championships will be played May 7 and 9 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Siena (12-6, 8-0 MAAC) won its first MAAC championship and made its first NCAA tournament appearance last season.
