WestConn Names Three New Men's Lacrosse Assistants

DANBURY, CT – Western Connecticut State University Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Jason Ouellet announced the appointment of three new assistants on Tuesday. Joining the Colonials' staff will be Matt Caione, Jim Crozier and Doug Murray.

Matt Caione is a 1996 graduate of Yorktown High School in Westchester County where he was named to the Section-One All-Section Lacrosse Team for three consecutive years and to the High School All-America Team in his senior year.

Following his career at Yorktown, Matt moved on to Syracuse University. While at Syracuse, Caione started all four years, and was named an All-American in both his junior and senior years. While at Syracuse, Caione's teams reached the NCAA Division I Final Four all four seasons, winning the National Championship in 2000.

Matt is currently an elementary Physical Education Instructor in the Carmel, NY School District.

Jim Crozier has been playing and involved with lacrosse for the last 16 years.

Crozier attended St. Michael's College from 1998 – 2002. While there was three-year starting goalie.

Prior to St. Michaels, he played his high school lacrosse at Avon Old Farms.

Crozier's coaching experience has ranged from the youth level, to high school and St. Michael's College with a specific focus on improving the goalie play.

Doug Murray had been a coach at nearby Brookfield (CT) High School from 2004 through last spring.

His collegiate playing career included four seasons as a member of the University of Notre Dame program from 1988-1992. As a defenseman, he reeped All-League honors and was captain during his senior campaign before graduating with a degree in Aerospace Engineering.

Murray has been a staff member of the Notre Dame Lacrosse Camp in South Bend, IN since 2007. Prior to that, he was a staff member of the Irish Lacrosse Camp in St. Louis, MO for 10 years.

He enjoyed playing post-collegiate lacrosse in numerouse states and countries for 18 years.

Murray, an Intelligence Officer in the U. S. Air Force from 1992 to 1998, and his wife Karen have two children, Ashlyn and Cole. He has held several positions, including procurement, engineering and sales, for IBM for the past 10 years.

The Colonials open the 2010 season at New York Maritime on Wednesday, March 3.
