Rochester Institute of Technology Outguns Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. Danielle Previ scored six goals in visiting Rochester Institute of Technology's 19-13 lacrosse victory at Guilford College Wednesday night. Allyson Pisher added four scores and two assists for the Tigers (2-0), who opened their season with a 22-1 win at North Carolina Wesleyan Tuesday afternoon.

Pisher and Shelby Vakiener both scored twice in RIT's game-opening 7-1 run. Sarah Frisicano scored with 7:03 left in the first half to open a 10-3 lead. The Quakers reeled off four of the half's final five goals to make it an 11-7 game at halftime.

Previ and Ashley Pezze opened the second half with back-to-back goals before the Quakers' Carrie Ernst almost single-handedly got Guilford back into the game. The senior midfielder notched four of her team-high five goals during a 6-2 Quakers' burst over a 13-minute stretch. Her fifth and final tally capped the run with 12:06 left in regulation and made it a 15-13 game.

Guilford's momentum stalled and RIT ended the game with four scores in the final 6:02, including two by Pisher.

The Tigers' Pezze finished with three goals and two assists. Vakiener also scored three times and added an assist and four ground balls. Rebecca Lampson was solid with two goals and an assist. She also had six ground balls and three caused turnovers, both game highs. Elizabeth Cardella made two saves in a little over one half in goal. Katelyn Crane finished the game and made three saves.

Ellie Merritt and Sarah Bradburd both scored twice for Guilford. The Quakers' Shelly Noguiera tallied once, had a game-high four assists and team-best five ground balls.

Following Guilford's spring break, the Quakers return to action March 13 versus visiting Virginia Wesleyan College in their Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener.
