Quillinan Reaches 200 Pts. as #7 Syracuse Downs Vermont

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Syracuse senior Halley Quillinan (Glenmont, N.Y.) became the fourth player in school history to record 200 career points in the No. 7 women's lacrosse squad's 19-7 victory against Vermont on Monday, March 8 in Jacksonville, Fla. Quillinan had three goals to give her 201 career points, which ranks fourth on Syracuse's all-time scoring list.

Quillinan's second goal at the 26:47 mark of the first half was the 200th point of her career. She finished with three goals, increasing her career total to 170. Her next goal will tie her with Leigh-Ann Zimmer for third place on the school's all-time leader list. In addition, Quillinan recorded two caused turnovers, giving her 73 in her career. That total moves her to third place on the career leader list.

Four members of the Orange scored multiple times as Syracuse recorded a season-high 19 goals. Senior Christina Dove (Bel Air, Md.) and freshman Tegan Brown (Perth, Australia) scored four goals apiece, while junior Tee Ladouceur (Slingerland, N.Y.) had three goals. Ladouceur also dished out a career-high five assists for a career-best eight points.

Quillinan gave Syracuse (3-1) the early lead, scoring three times in the first seven minutes as the Orange led 4-0. After Vermont (0-2) converted a free position attempt, Dove found the back of the net with 21:47 remaining, extending her streak of consecutive games with a goal to 44. After the squads traded goals, Ladouceur netted her first goal of the game on an assist from freshman Michelle Tumolo (Mullica Hills, N.J.), sparking Syracuse on a 4-1 scoring run to take an 11-4 halftime advantage. Quillinan and Dove each had a hat trick in the first half, while Ladouceur had five assists.

The second half featured more Syracuse offense. Ladouceur scored twice in the first three minutes as the Orange opened a 12-goal lead with 12:50 remaining. Sophomore Sarah Holden (Syracuse, N.Y.) and freshman Trenna Hill (Nedrow, N.Y.) scored their first career goals to give the Orange its largest lead of the game at 19-6 with 3:41 on the clock before Vermont's Samantha Stern converted a free position goal with 18 seconds remaining for the 19-7 final.

Syracuse outshot Vermont, 30-14, and picked up 26 ground balls to 17 for the Catamounts. The Orange caused 22 turnovers, while Vermont held a 16-13 advantage in draw controls. Syracuse goalkeeper Liz Hogan (Victor, N.Y.) made four saves, and Vermont's Taylor Hadcock had eight saves.

Freshmen Bridget Daley (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Marley Ciferri (Ithaca, N.Y.) each had their first career assists, while junior Lindsey Connell (Tyngsboro, Mass.) tied her career high with two points. Senior Jackie DePetris (Radnor, Pa.) added a goal and an assist. Stern and Sara Buxton each had a pair of goals for Vermont.

The Orange returns home to host Towson on Wednesday, March 17 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Christina Dove and Tegan Brown scored four goals each and Tee Ladouceur added five assists to lead No. 7 Syracuse past Vermont, 19-7, in a neutral site women's lacrosse game at Jacksonville University on Monday afternoon.

The Catamounts, who faced their second straight nationally ranked opponent, fall to 0-2 on the season. Syracuse improves to 3-1 on the year.

"The coaching staff is pleased with the effort of the team today and it was good to see us bounce back from a tough loss at Dartmouth to open the year," said Vermont head coach Jen Johnson.

"We played with more intensity, aggressiveness, pace and with a higher skill level. Our team chemistry on the field was much better as well."
