IWLCA Poll for Women's Division III (3/08)

Franklin & Marshall remained in the top spot of the rankings, and their opponent in the 2009 title game, Salisbury, moved up to the No. 2 slot, edging past Gettysburg, who dropped to No. 3. Three new teams entered the rankings this week, including a pair of Capital Athletic Conference schools as Mary Washington and Stevenson both moved into the top 20. Stevens of the Empire 8 jumped up six spots to land at No. 11 as the week's fastest mover.

The NESCAC continues to lead all conferences with five schools in the rankings, including three in the upper half of the poll. No. 6 Middlebury leads the way, followed by the Colby at No. 7 and Tufts at No. 9. Williams held again at No. 12 with the Bantams of Trinity right behind at No. 13. Two conferences claim three schools each, with the Liberty League represented by Hamilton at No. 4, Union at No. 14 and William Smith at No. 18. With Mary Washington and Stevenson's entry into the rankings, the CAC has Salisbury at No. 2, with the Eagles at No. 17 and the Mustangs at No. 19.

The Centennial claims both No. 1 Franklin & Marshall and No. 3 Gettysburg, while the Empire 8 is represented by No. 11 Stevens and No. 20 Nazareth. The Lions of TCNJ represent the NJAC and sit at No. 5. Babson from the NEWMAC moves into the top-10 with a No. 8 ranking, while the Cardinals of Catholic remain in the top-10 at No. 10 and come from the Landmark Conference. Cortland from the SUNYAC moves to No. 15 while Washington & Lee from the ODAC holds at No. 16.

A top-10 matchup takes place in San Antonio on Thursday as the No. 10 Cardinals take on the No. 3 Bullets. On Saturday, the No. 16 Generals welcome the No. 17 Eagles to the poll and to Lexington and the NESCAC season opens up with No. 12 Williams at No. 7 Colby.
