Ten Falcons Score Twice as Pfeiffer Pastes Fort Lewis

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Ten different Lady Falcons scored at-least two goals as Pfeiffer University pasted Fort Lewis (Co.) 25-3 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field. The Lady Falcons, who received votes to be in the IWLCA top-10, improve to 5-1 on the season, while the Skyhawks fall to 0-3.

Pfeiffer jumped on the board just 64 seconds into the contest as Tory Binder (Woodstock, MD) scored unassisted. Fort Lewis came right back with a goal from Alyssa Vigil (Denver, CO) for a 1-1 contest. After Alex Cook (Commack, NY) made it 2-1 Lady Falcons, reigning conference player of the week Jessica Kennedy hit twice for a 4-1 advantage. Vigil struck on a free position shot for the Skyhawks at the 18:10 mark of the first half before Sarah Hebberd (Golden, CO) went back-to-back for an 8-2 Pfeiffer lead.

At the even 16 minute mark, Libby Weiner (Littleton, CO) tallied the final Fort Lewis goal to cut the deficit down to 8-3. The Lady Falcon defense would stand tall for the rest of the match and Liz Melesh (Annapolis, MD) scored back-to-back while Jessica Moulton (Huntingtown, MD) wrapped up first half scoring with 1:49 to play before the break.

In the second half, Amanda Smith (Hagerstown, MD) and Taylor Miller (Orlando, FL) each netted a pair of goals to end the contest. Melesh and Kennedy paced Pfeiffer with four ground balls as Kennedy registered eight draw controls. Allie King (Severna Park, MD) had four caused turnovers. For the Skyhawks, behind the two goals from Vigil and one from Weiner, Katharine Allen (Memphis, TN) had the only assist while Paige Juneau (Austin, TX) had four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Pfeiffer, weather permitting, will take host Bloomsburg at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning at N.E. Lefko Field.
