Greensboro Defeats Sewanee on Georgia Swing
Cumming, Ga. -- The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team defeated Sewanee, 12-8, at West Forsyth High School on Thursday. Bryan Mercer (Salisbury, MD/Parkside) had 4 goals and Brad Gesser (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) added 3 for GC. The Pride improved to 5-2, while the Tigers dropped to 0-4.
Greensboro was ahead 8-6 heading to the final period. The Pride outscored Sewanee 4-2 in last final 15 minutes.
"I thought we played better today and was really proud that we had no penalties," said GC Head Coach Dan Cetrone.
GC led in shots 38-28. Goalkeeper Matt Leach (Charlotte, NC/Canon) had 11 saves. Randy Brooks (Greensboro, NC/Southeast Guilford) and Nick Patrone (Supply, NC/Apex) both scored twice for The Pride. Jordan Drumheller (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) passed for 2 assists.
Skip Jakupi (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) had another strong day. he won 14-6 face-offs and also scored once.
The Pride next plays on March 20 at Randolph College.
